1. In a bowl place the meat and cover with hot water for 30 minutes to remove the salt. Wash in cold water and cut in pieces.
2. In a heavy saucepan heat the butter and fry the onions with the garlic. When the onion is transparent add the meat and chilies. Cover the meat with boiling water and cook over low heat. Once tender add the bananas. Cover, if possible with banana leaves, and cook over low heat until the water is absorbed.
